Derived from the Indian epic Mahabharata, Sutradhar is an English-language play that reimagines classic storytelling for a modern, multicultural audience. The title Sutradhar or ‘the one who holds the strings’, evokes a puppeteer orchestrating the fates of others—yet, as the play provocatively asks, “Aren’t we all, at some time, both the puppeteer and the marionette?”
