The Importance of Being Earnest is a quick, witty comedy where two men try to find out how long they can pretend their name is Ernest. Identities get mixed up, babies are found in handbags, and nonsense ensues. Set in late 19th century, expect interweaving romances, lots of laughs, and big surprises in one of the most well-known plays of all time.
This is a classic satire, vibrantly retold about dysfunctional families, class, gender and relationships. Matters are complicated by the imaginary characters invented by both men to cover their on-the-sly activities not to mention the disapproval of Gwendolen’s mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell.
